SALES TIP #4 - The Big Picture

By Tony McGee

The New Year is at hand and it is time to make that New Year's resolution again.

This year do something special, make a resolution to improve on the four areas in your life that you have control over and make it the fullest and most prosperous year ever.

Family: Spending time alone is as important as time spent with your spouse and children, take this time to reflect on the things you want to accomplish in life and ask yourself am I getting where I want to go, doing the things I want to accomplish, and more important, am I who I want to be? Time spent with your spouse or significant other should include focusing on your dreams and accomplishments that you had when you met, are you doing that or just settling for whatever life throws at you. Time spent with your children should be quality time, they are learning from you right now, you are setting the pace for their future and how they will remember you long from now and this time is precious and gone too quickly. Spend it wisely, take control now of your time and dedicate your life to you, your spouse and children; don't let this year go by without building memories with your family and enjoying the time shared with them.

Health: Spiritual, physical, and mental health are part of life's journey, they have a great effect on the outcome of anything you do, make sure that your spiritual health shows your beliefs, actions, and dedication to what you believe and stand firm with your position. Make sure this has substance, "don't drink the kool-aid if your not 100% sure of the content". Strive to improve your mental growth by setting and achieving your goals. Continue to learn through reading, taking classes, attending workshops and also increasing your personal library of books, tapes, and media that will help you grow and expand your horizons. Pay attention to diet, exercise, and appearance. A well maintained machine will operate much more effectively than a neglected one.

Finance: Daily, weekly, and monthly budgeting is sometimes a struggle for anyone "even the wealthy", plan your household budgeting and don't wait till the last moment to pay a bill with a late fee, they add up, plan these out so you are prepared for them. Learn to invest wisely. Talk to an investment counselor, focus on short term, long term and retirement options, any banker can give advice in this area. Take advantage of the multitude of books at any bookstore or library on these subjects. Philanthropy-give back with money, talent and time to civic organizations, community, neighborhood or a list of any organization that doesn't just need money but time or talent that you possess and give freely!

Occupation: Be very proud of the service you provide. Please understand how many jobs are related to what you do, when you sell a car, thousands of jobs have been secured; you are the strongest link in this economic chain. Other people can supply the raw materials, steel, rubber, glass, plastics, finance, transportation services, but they can't sell them. It takes a professional like yourself and the skill of a car salesperson to keep the economy rolling. Take advantage of any growth potential you may be open to and maximize the unlimited earning potential that today's car sales professional have. Commit to your profession and stop telling yourself your not sure if you can do this, give 100% this year and watch what exponential growth you will have, strive to be a team player and understand the company you work for has to be profitable in order for you to have job security. Think company, team, and then myself.

Have competence in your profession, your product and the process in which you provide your service. Be a professional and make this year the year that you gave 100% to your family, health, finances, and your occupation, live long and prosper, have a Happy, safe and prosperous New Year!
